Hard rules hold; soft rules bend with receipts.

teleon.dev/docs/rules keeps a five-level constraint hierarchy. Levels 1 to 3 are hard invariants; levels 4 and 5 hold 24 falsifiable soft rules that an agent may bend when it files a deviation receipt.

Hard levels hold for every task. A soft rule bends when the trade is worth it, and each bend leaves a receipt with its slack, penalty and guard.

What it does

Five levels, two kinds

Levels 1 to 3 always hold. Levels 4 and 5 are soft rules, solved with MaxSMT slack variables and penalty weights.

A receipt for every bend

Each receipt records the rule, the slack used, the penalty, a Pareto justification and a compensating guard.

Three boundary tiers

Some actions always run, some ask a person first, and a fixed list stays prohibited.

The contract

A deviation receipt names the task, the soft rule and its level, the slack, the penalty weight, the justification and the compensating guard.

Full glossary
Soft rule
A rule at level 4 or 5 of the hierarchy. An agent may bend it by filing a receipt with the slack used, the penalty and a compensating guard.
MaxSMT
Maximum satisfiability modulo theories: a solver keeps every hard rule and satisfies as much of the weighted soft rules as it can.
Boundary tier
One of three action tiers for agents: actions they always take, actions that ask a person first, and a fixed list of prohibited actions.
