One event per story, with its momentum.
teleon.dev/docs/news merges global coverage into deduplicated events and measures narrative velocity: how fast each story spreads across distinct sources.
Duplicates merge into one event first. Velocity then counts the new distinct sources covering it each hour.
What it does
One event, many stories
Near-duplicate articles merge into one event using SimHash and MinHash signatures.
Narrative velocity
Each event tracks how fast new, distinct sources pick it up, hour by hour.
Tagged to companies
Events link to the companies they name through S101 entity IDs.
The contract
An event record lists its merged articles, distinct sources and velocity, with each source's license and read time.
S107, added in v32.0news.eventnews.velocity

Words on this page
- Narrative velocity
- How fast coverage of one event grows across distinct sources, measured after duplicate stories are merged.
- SimHash
- A short fingerprint of a document where similar documents get similar fingerprints.
- MinHash
- A compact signature for estimating how much two sets overlap, used to find near-duplicates.
- Change cursor
- A position in a feed's change stream. A reader sends the last cursor it saw and gets every change after it, in order.
