Follow cargo and congestion, port by port.
teleon.dev/docs/maritime joins customs bills of lading with AIS vessel telemetry, and measures congestion at each port from the ships waiting to berth.
AIS positions count the ships waiting each day. The queue passed twice its 90-day median on day 10, which raised the congestion alert.
What it does
Who ships what
Customs bills of lading name the shipper, consignee, goods and vessel for each cargo.
Where vessels are
AIS telemetry tracks each vessel's position, course and speed.
Port congestion
Ships waiting at anchor are counted each day and compared with the port's usual range.
The contract
A shipment names the shipper, consignee, goods and vessel, with the customs record, license and read time behind it.

Words on this page
- Bill of lading
- The shipping document for a cargo: it names the shipper, the consignee, the goods and the vessel.
- AIS
- Automatic Identification System: radio messages that ships broadcast with their identity, position, course and speed.
- SPC chart
- A statistical process control chart: a running measure with limits that flag unusual change.
- Change cursor
- A position in a feed's change stream. A reader sends the last cursor it saw and gets every change after it, in order.
